Going to fill it with cans? Simply set the dial to "aluminum". Have stacks of old newspapers to clear out? Set the dial to "paper". This eliminates the guesswork as to what goes where. A circular opening at the front is perfectly sized for cans and bottles or you can lift up that front portion to slip in larger items like milk cartons. Furthermore, the whole lid removes for easy emptying. The recessed lid makes it easy to stack two bins on top of one another to save on space. If you don't stack them, each bin is short enough to fit under most standard cabinets.
